The customer, Nick Goulden’s team from Australia, specializes in event-related lighting solutions. The project was designed for an outdoor nighttime event in Singapore, where the lighting equipment needed to provide attractive visual effects while remaining reliable and practical for outdoor installation.
The project included two main types of lighting:
- Water ripple lights for blue water-effect lighting
- Logo and pattern projection lights for projecting brand names, promotional graphics, and safety messages
The customer also required several modifications to make the products compatible with the existing event infrastructure.

From GETshow to Factory Inspection
The project started at GETshow, where the customer’s team visited our booth and discussed their lighting requirements with our sales representative, Jojo.
Rather than making a decision based only on product specifications, the customer wanted to understand our manufacturing capabilities and customization process.
Just a few days after the exhibition, the team visited our factory for an on-site inspection.
This factory visit allowed both sides to discuss the project in greater detail, including:
- Existing power supply conditions
- Outdoor installation requirements
- Cable material
- Connector specifications
- Projection content
- Product structure
- Sample testing
- Delivery schedule
This face-to-face communication helped us identify the technical requirements before production and provided a clear foundation for the OEM development process.

Challenge 1: Adapting the Lighting to a 24V DC Power System
One of the first challenges was the power supply.
The event site already had a centralized 24V DC power system. The customer therefore did not need a conventional power supply integrated with each lighting fixture.
Instead of using the standard configuration, we modified the lighting system according to the customer’s existing infrastructure.
The customized solution included:
- Removing the standard power supply configuration
- Adapting the lighting input for the customer’s 24V DC system
- Providing the required cable configuration
- Adding a matching connector at the fixture side
- Ensuring the connection could be quickly integrated into the customer’s existing system
This approach allowed the customer to connect the lights directly to their existing power infrastructure without introducing unnecessary power adapters.
For event projects, this type of integration can make installation faster and simplify on-site cable management.


Challenge 2: Upgrading the Cable from PVC to Rubber
Because the project was intended for an outdoor nighttime event, the customer was particularly concerned about cable durability.
The initial configuration used standard PVC cable. After discussing the actual installation environment with the customer, we changed the exposed cable to rubber cable.
The purpose was to provide a more suitable cable solution for outdoor applications, especially where the cable may be exposed to repeated handling, movement, and environmental conditions.
The final cable configuration was confirmed with the customer before mass production.
This was a small component-level change, but it was important for the overall reliability of the lighting system.

Challenge 3: Connector and Cable Length Customization
The customer also had specific requirements for the connection system.
Instead of supplying a complete standard cable assembly, we customized the connector and cable configuration to match the customer’s existing setup.
The final requirements included:
- A customized connector configuration
- 500 mm input-side cable
- 1 m total cable length, excluding the customer’s own cable
- Connector compatibility confirmed before production
- Video confirmation of the connection method
Before finalizing the samples, our team used visual communication and video confirmation to make sure both sides had the same understanding of the connection method.
This reduced the risk of installation problems when the products arrived at the event site.

Three Sample Rounds Before Mass Production
Because the project involved multiple customized components, we did not move directly into mass production.
Instead, we developed three sample sets for progressive verification.
Sample 1 — Initial Technical Verification
The first sample focused on verifying the basic lighting effect and the modified power configuration.
This allowed the customer and our technical team to confirm that the customized electrical configuration could work with the project requirements.
Sample 2 — Cable and Connector Optimization
After the initial verification, the cable material and connector configuration were further adjusted.
The rubber cable solution was introduced, and the connection method was checked again.
Sample 3 — Final Approval
The third sample incorporated the final confirmed requirements.
The customer reviewed the overall configuration, projection effect, outdoor suitability, and connection details before approving the final production version.
This three-stage sample process helped us identify and solve potential problems before mass production.

An Unexpected Challenge: 2 Weeks Became 7 Days
The original production schedule was approximately two weeks.
However, the customer’s event schedule was moved forward, creating a much tighter delivery window.
The customer then asked whether the order could be completed and shipped within one week.
At this point, the challenge was no longer simply product customization. It became a coordination challenge involving production, purchasing, assembly, quality inspection, and shipping.
Our team immediately coordinated the internal departments and reviewed the production schedule.
Rather than compromising the confirmed product requirements, we reorganized the production process and prioritized the project.
The result:
170 customized lighting fixtures were completed and shipped within 7 days.
The order included both water ripple lights and logo projection lights for the Singapore outdoor event.

More Than Just Product Customization
For this project, OEM service was not simply about changing the appearance of an existing product.
The customization involved several layers of the product:
Power Supply → Cable → Connector → Projection Content → Product Configuration → Sample Testing → Mass Production
Each modification had to work with the customer’s existing event infrastructure.

The water ripple lights provided the desired blue water-effect atmosphere, while the logo projection lights were used for customized visual and promotional content.
More importantly, the equipment performed reliably during the event.
The successful project also created opportunities for further cooperation.
Other members of the customer’s team subsequently contacted us about additional projects, and the customer expressed their intention to continue working with us on future event lighting requirements.
