Real needs. Tough requirements. No on-site visit.
In this years February, we received an inquiry from a client in Moldova. The needs were clear. But the conditions were strict.
The client was preparing a proposal for the local city government. The main problem was not a lack of streetlights. It was something more dangerous: roads that visually blend into the surrounding ground.
The Hidden Danger: Invisible Crosswalks
In certain areas, the road surface and the nearby ground share the same color. Pedestrians cannot tell where the road ends. They also don’t know where to cross safely.
This area has a low population density. Many intersections only have painted crosswalks. But these markings have worn away over time. At night – even with streetlights – drivers struggle to see them. Streetlights only brighten a small zone. The crosswalk itself stays nearly invisible.

What the Client Asked Us
The client did not ask simple questions. Instead, they sent a long list of technical questions in clear categories. Below are the actual questions they asked before placing any order.
Installation and mounting:
- Can the projection light attach to existing streetlight poles?
- What types of mounting brackets come with the product?
- What is the best installation height?
- Can we adjust the angle after installation?
Calibration and image adjustment:
- How do we align the projection with the road?
- Do we calibrate the image manually or digitally?
- Is the brightness adjustable?
- Can we change the number or width of the projected stripes?
Automation and control:
- Can we synchronize multiple devices along a whole street?
- How do we turn the unit on and off (manual, timer, or photosensor)?
- Does it support automatic nighttime activation?
- Can we connect it to a central control system or smart city network?
- If we install it on an entire street, how do we manage all units centrally?
These were not casual questions. The client needed real answers. And we provided every single one.
Our Solution: The Aladdin DGL Crosswalk Projection Light
After reviewing each requirement carefully, we recommended the Aladdin DGL. This is our dedicated crosswalk projection light for unmarked roads.
The Aladdin 700W high-power unit uses an Osram high-brightness light source. It delivers excellent efficiency and long projection distance. As a result, it creates ultra-long-range, large-area, clear projections.
The whole unit features a high-quality aluminum body with a strong heat dissipation structure. It is waterproof, durable, and highly adaptable. The wide voltage range allows stable operation in various harsh outdoor environments. People widely use it for traffic warnings and large outdoor scenarios. Its engineering performance has proven excellent. For all these reasons, the Aladdin DGL was the most appropriate choice.
The Biggest Challenge: No On-Site Measurement
Our sales engineer, JOJO, led this project from the beginning.
The main difficulty was simple: we could not travel to Moldova for on-site measurements. Every calculation – projection angle, image distortion correction, installation height – had to be done remotely. We relied solely on client input and our own experience.
First attempt: The custom pole was too high.
The client designed and installed the first pole. But it ended up too tall. The Aladdin DGL is not very heavy, yet it caused noticeable shaking on that high pole. As a result, the projected image became unstable.

Second attempt: A shorter, sturdier pole.
JOJO and the client agreed to modify and replace the pole. They shortened and reinforced it. However, changing the pole altered the projection geometry. JOJO had to completely redesign the projection gobo. She recalculated the required correction angles so the image would adapt to the new height and angle.
This was not a simple reorder. It required recalculating image distortion, road alignment, and stripe width – all without ever stepping foot on site. After two rounds of design, new calculations, and fresh gobo production, the solution was finally ready.
The Client Visited Our Factory
On April 30, the client came to China for an on-site inspection. They visited our factory.
During that visit, they examined the actual projection gobos for crosswalks. They discussed installation details face to face with JOJO. They also saw firsthand how the Aladdin DGL goes through assembly, testing, and calibration. And left very satisfied. Moreover, they took samples with them – carrying the gobos back to Moldova by hand. This time, there was no time difference. No waiting for shipping. And no more delays.
Real Results: Photos from the Actual Installation
Shortly after returning to Moldova, the client sent us real photos from their project site.

- The projected crosswalk appeared clearly on the road surface.
- A person standing next to the projection gave us a true sense of scale.
- The brightness and clarity met every single one of the client’s strict requirements.
What This Means for the Client
The client is now installing the necessary poles for the Aladdin DGL projection lights. Based on their current actions – pole installation, image confirmation, and the previous factory visit – we believe follow-up orders are very likely. The first three demo units have already proven the solution works.
Why This Matters for Other Government and Engineering Clients
If you face similar challenges, this case study applies directly to you:
- You work in sparsely populated areas with real traffic safety risks.
- Your roads blend into the surrounding ground at night.
- You run municipal projects with strict safety and documentation requirements.
- Your project is remote, and the supplier cannot visit the site.
- You need automation, low power consumption, and central control.
The Aladdin DGL is not a decorative logo light. Instead, it is a functional safety device for crosswalks. Specifically, it is a crosswalk projection light for unmarked roads.
